The questions we hear most often in consultations, answered here. Everything you can settle before you visit is below.
Spaces & visiting
Where is PLAYA located?
PLAYA operates two spaces. The Lounge is at 212 Dosan-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and the athletic space is at 742 Nonhyeon-ro, Gangnam-gu (Patio Nine). They are separate buildings; we walk you through moving between them during your tour.
What are the opening hours?
The Lounge is open 10:00–22:00 on weekdays and 10:00–18:00 on Saturdays, closed on Sundays. The athletic space is open 24 hours, every day of the year, so the courts and the gym are available early in the morning and late at night.
Is parking or valet available?
The athletic space offers three hours of complimentary underground parking. The Lounge provides complimentary valet between 12:00 and 22:00 for members with a registered vehicle.
Is there a sauna, spa or pool?
We do not currently have a sauna, spa or pool. We do have private hinoki-lined shower rooms. Later this year the golf studio and audio room move to the Lounge rooftop, and a premium sauna will be built in the space they leave behind.
Can I take lessons, or bring my own coach?
We offer one-to-one lessons in tennis, badminton, golf and personal training, led by former national team players, KPGA and KLPGA tour professionals and certified coaches. You are also welcome to bring in a coach you already train with. Lesson fees vary by discipline and coach, and we go through them during your consultation.
Members & connection
Who are the members?
Members include partners at major law firms and physicians, VC and PEF investors, C-level executives and founders from big tech, and leaders in global brands, fashion and the arts, centred on their thirties and forties. We never disclose members' names or affiliations.
How do members actually connect?
We do not stage introductions. Connection happens through everyday life in the Lounge, the weekly tennis and badminton clubs, and events built around shared interests. We run three to four programmes a month or more: Insight Night with invited speakers, PLAYA Ladies' Court and its eight-week performance programme with national team athletes, chef pop-ups, wine tastings and art nights.
I don't know anyone here. Is joining alone all right?
Many members join on their own. Most begin with training or the Lounge, settling into their own rhythm first, and our concierge guides you toward programmes that match your interests during onboarding. Nothing here requires you to introduce yourself first.
Joining
Can I join without a referral?
Membership is normally extended on the recommendation of at least one current member. If you do not have a referral, the path is still open: you visit for a tour first, and membership proceeds after the required documents are reviewed and your application is considered.
How is membership structured?
Membership has two components: a joining fee and an annual fee. Every membership is registered to a named individual; we do not offer unnamed memberships. Full members are 18 or older, and we run a single full membership without short-term or weekend options. Instalment payment is available, with use beginning once payment is complete. We go through the figures with you directly.
Can a company hold the membership?
Yes. Corporate memberships are also registered to named individuals, extended as accounts for each executive or employee who will use the club. We design the arrangement with you during the consultation.
Family & guests
Can my spouse or family use the club?
A Family Pass lets you register your spouse and children. Children under 13 are free and visit accompanied by a guardian. If you are about to be married, we can register your spouse in advance on presentation of your wedding invitation. Registration fees are covered in your consultation.
Can I bring guests?
Members receive five Friends Passes a year and may purchase more. Guests stay with the member who invited them. Lounge guests must be accompanied, and coffee or tea is served on arrival. Meeting rooms and the kitchen room can be reserved in advance.
How is this different from other memberships?
Three things. First, this is a community of vetted leaders. Members join through recommendation and review, so you are never mixed in with hotel guests. Second, membership is capped at 500 full members in Korea, which is why there is no competition for bookings. Third, training, recovery, dining and conversation all live inside one membership. PLAYA opened in the summer of 2024.
Anything else
Membership fees, transfers, suspensions and dining all depend on your situation, so we cover them directly in a consultation.
